This is how I explain my Invisible Illness

This is how I explain my Invisible Illness

An invisible illness is defined as any medical conditional that isn’t easily visible to others. This includes chronic physical conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, fibromyalgia, and Functional Neurological Disorder, which is what I have. It also includes mental illnesses. As you appear to be fine on the outside, people don’t understand you are really ill. This leads to frustration from the person ill and those around them. Add to this, my symptoms vary in their severity from day, week or month. Someone might see me “looking fine” so not understand why I then have cancel plans, for example. So this is how I explain my invisible illness and why.

Project Get Tina Fit-The Approach for Success

I don’t know how many times I’ve started a weight-loss plan, some with more success than others. However here I am, needing to lose weight again! Losing weight is hard. Losing weight when you have are chronically ill? Hmmm. I’ve gone round and round in circles and seem to fall off the bandwagon when I have a symptom flare. I need an approach for success, that will work for me all the time; symptom-free and flare ups.

So what’s my approach?

Tips for Travelling with a Chronic Illness

Tips for Travelling with a Chronic Illness

This post was updated on 29/06/18

We’re at that time of year when you are likely to be thinking about your summer holiday. I am lucky enough that I have three trips that i am looking forward to in the next few months. So I am starting to think about what I can put in place to travel with a chronic illness: manage my symptoms and ensure I have a wonderfully relaxing time. I am sure many others would benefit from this too, so decided to blog about it. I wanted to keep this post quite general, so will apply to more people. So I’ve had a little help from others with a chronic illness. Where they are a fellow blogger, I have included a link to their blog or social media.

Modern Day/Wellbeing Wednesday

A new perspective on how to shine this year

A new perspective on how to shine this year

Retrain Brain and Simply-Shine - Hello January

This post was updated on 24/03/18

Towards the end of the month, typically on the last Wednesday, I sit with no distractions and focus on my monthly goals in relation to wellbeing; I have a review and look to the month ahead to see what I might want to aim for. I think this is so important. If you don’t stop every now and again to take stock, how do you know you are focusing on the right things. There is no doubt that being healthy has always been important to me but it has now become a keen interest and passion.

In my previous blog post, which you can read here I explained that I have expanded the dimensions I look at. I’ve included headings the areas I will focus on as well as a little explanation/further detail.
